The Beginnings of a Said-Ambrose Feud?

Origins
By now, every involved Nascar fan has seen, read about, or heard about the altercation between Marcos Ambrose and Boris Said at Mexico City this past weekend.  In its most basic form, the wreck involved Boris Said’s rear bumper and Marcos Ambrose’s nose.  Contact was made; Boris spun out and eventually sustained some serious damage, taking him out of the race; Ambrose continued driving and placed second in the race.

Controversy
Other than the obvious beginning being the wreck, it seems that the situation was further developed in the post-wreck interview with Boris Said.  Boris proclaimed to the world that Ambrose “Just cheap-shotted me and took me out, He hooked my left rear in turn one. He had me sideways for a while and then just turned me around. … I’m not going to cry about it, but I’m going to go apologize to his crew chief because it’s going to cost him a car.”

The problem here arises because these were fairly aggressive words and not everyone agrees that Ambrose gave Boris the cheap shot as claimed.  Discussions will rage, but ultimately they boil down to whether Boris Said’s car was already loose when Ambrose got into him.  The announcer seemed to think so, but he’s basically watching the same feed as the rest of us.  In the end, only Said and Ambrose can really say whether Boris was already loose when contact was made.

However, according to Said’s post-wreck interview…Ambrose could have backed off at anytime but decided to keep pushing.  The continued pushing is really what led to the #25 spinning out so arguing whether Said was loose going into the turn may perhaps be a moot point.

Around the Internet
Nascar blogs and websites around the internet are in a heated debate regarding the incident.  Check some of these articles out for further reading…

Based on what I’ve been reading Boris lost a lot of fans after his childish display on NASCAR Now.

    I’d guess it’s 9 to 1 against Boris.

AS a side note, I’ve been watching Ambrose in the V8 Supercars Series for several years prior to him migrating to NASCAR.

Boris would do well to leave it alone, talk is cheap and it may cost him some fan support, (not to mention looking like a fool on TV costing sponsorship) but if he plans any on track retaliation he may be shocked at the outcome.

He earned his Aussie nick name Devil Racer and is not afraid to demonstrate way.

Now guys, Ambrose got dropped kicked by a full time NASCAR driver in Canada. What the hell we doing in Canada.

Now you guys can call it what you want. It is and will always be, Southern Sock Car Racing.

If you do not want to play do not come south.

    Hell yea Boris.

Been a Said fan for years. Largely because he never showed the pettiness of so many other drivers. So much for that.

True Boris fans will stand behind him no matter what. He’ll probably cool off a little, but I wouldn’t want to be Ambrose if Boris should find himself directly behind him some day on the track. I think Boris can maybe forgive, but he’ll never forget.

David Yates - “Now you guys can call it what you want. It is and will always be, Southern Sock Car Racing.”

If you believe that you’re ignorant of NASCAR’s history.

A history that includes road races in Mexico in the 50’s road races in California in the 60’s and some of it’s early drivers being from the mid-west and out west.

but don’t let a few facts disturb your stilted reality.

When interviewed on TV after the race, Ambrose said he would apologize to Boris in person. Did he?

Nothing personal but I cant believe they consider this guy a “road course ringer” he races like crap and has never won a Busch or Cup road course race.

Boris needs to be careful - Marcos when racing in Australia apparently didn’t take any crap! Boris really did look like a fool after the race - Good luck finding a sponsor Boris!

Marc said, “If you believe that you’re ignorant of NASCAR’s history.”

Well I guess most of us in North Carolina do not know much about NASCAR.

    Get me a bucket.
