Team Rensi Brings in Boris

It has been reported that Team Rensi Motorsports has signed on Boris Said to compete at Mexico City and Montreal. This looks like a great deal for Boris to get more seat time, even though they are just in the Nationwide Series.

Frank Stoddard, crew chief, will follow Boris and again command the troops at these two races. Read more

Unfortunately, it looks like Boris has been removed from the entry list on both Nascar.com and on Jayski’s.  I guess we won’t be seeing that Slurpee car again just yet…

Boris Said to try for California

Wait just a second, wait just a second!  Put your wig back on, its just come down the newswire that Boris Said is on the entry list for the Auto Club 500 this weekend at California!

Is it because of missing Daytona?  Is it because he has more sponsorship money?  Will the Slurpee design still exist?

Boris Said will miss Daytona (DNQ)

So far this season, Boris Said has been running…not quite good enough. In today’s Gatorade Duel, Boris needed to finish in the top two of the go-or-go homers to qualify for Daytona this weekend. He didn’t quite make it. Wallace (87) and Vickers (83) made the cut today. While this was great news for Team Red Bull who wouldn’t have had a driver qualify, its bad for Boris Said and his 7-11 Slurpee Ford.

Certainly all of the Said heads were hoping for a good performance today. With a new sponsorship obviously in the works (anyone have details on the new 7-11 deal?) it seemed plausible that Boris might get in a few extra races this year. We weren’t sure if the new paint scheme was permanent before the race, but we’re really unsure now. Read more

Boris Said Qualifies Just Short…

DAYTONA BEACH — Needing to be among the 3 fastest qualifiers in the group of 17 drivers not guaranteed starting spots in next weekend’s Daytona International Speedway to earn a slot on the Daytona 500 starting grid, Boris Said came up just short on Sunday.

But, unlike his last trip to Daytona, when he was on the pole before rain washed out his qualifying time prior to the Pepsi 400 here last July, Said still as a shot at firing the No. 60 Ford next weekend. Read more
