Boris Said qualifies and races fourth Gillett Evernham entry at New Hampshire

Boris qualified Gillett Evernham’s fourth cup entry last weekend at New Hampshire International Raceway. Said was able to overcome a poor practice session (in which he was only 47th fastest of 49 cars) to qualify 43rd, beating other go or go-homers Michael Waltrip and Dale Jarrett. Unfortunately, rain once again plagued Said’s weekend, washing out both practice sessions Saturday. Said was unable to work on his car setup and struggled all race long Sunday with a tight race car, finishing 40th.
“Fielding the No. 98 Valvoline/Stanley Tools Dodge Avenger at New Hampshire this weekend is the start of some additional research and development Gillett Evernham Motorsports will be doing with the COT heading into the 2008 season,” said Ray Evernham. “This is also an excellent opportunity to get Boris Said some seat time at a Nextel Cup race considering all he has done for our Busch and road course programs over the last two seasons.” After the race Boris told reporters, “I have to thank Valvoline and Stanley Tools for giving me the opportunity this weekend. I wish we could have come home with a better result. It really put us at a disadvantage when practice was rained out yesterday, that kept us from having any time to work on our race setup. I was still learning the track out there in the race today and the car was too tight at the start. Once we fell two laps down we just used the rest of the race as a test session. We were able to throw a lot of changes at this COT car and see how it reacted. Hopefully that will help Gillett Evernham Motorsports in the future.”
Boris finished 14th in his only other Car of Tomorrow start at Watkins Glen, driving the number 21 Woods Brothers Ford Fusion.

Why Boris Deserves a Full Time Ride

Boris Said: career part-timer. But who understands why? I wonder if even Boris himself understands why. I certainly don’t. Boris deserves a full-time ride if not based on his credentials and racing abilities then on his cult-like fan base.
Fans love the Boris Said personality and outlook on life. It appears to the fans that Boris is just a regular guy in a racing suit, not a supreme being of the racing world who is esteemed to another level of humanity like many of the other Nascar drivers. He is a regular guy that we can relate to, understand, and appreciate. Said Heads have been around for several years now and I’m surprised that they haven’t gotten more press. Some rich guy somewhere has to realize the potential for marketing that Boris Said has. He already has dedicated fans across the country eager to buy up shirts, wigs, and diecast collectibles and he only runs a few races per year. And besides that…he’s a good driver.
Okay, so don’t hire him on your team just because the fans like him. So you’re the team owner and you say a driver has to be competitive in races and win. Well you already know he?s going to do well on the road courses; those are his specialty. You know he’s good enough to compete on oval tracks; he did it at Daytona this year. Just road courses alone, he’ll probably get a top ten finish on each barring some unfortunate circumstance or a crappy car. Heck he finished 3rd this past weekend in Mexico City even though his car had nothing to give at the end and was put together so shatty that the shifting knob fell off.
I can hear the critics now…’he’s too old to become full time now’ and ‘he just won’t be able to compete against the great drivers today.’ Well I’m here to tell you to give him a shot. Even if he doesn’t win, there is potential to make millions selling merchandise. There is money to be made with the Boris Said name, but apparently no one important enough has realized that yet.
Really, I hope the line that I started this article with proves not to be true in the end. I think Boris deserves a full-time cup season. Give him a steady team and ride and he has a chance to be great. Boris Said: Nascar legend.

8/28/07:
After getting getting cut from two races for which he qualified, Boris made a nice showing at the Glen. Nascar rules stated that Said’s qualifying runs didn’t matter as the whole field couldn’t qualify due to rain. The starting lineups were determined by point standings.
Disregarding these disappointments, Said turned in a good run at Watkin’s Glen on August 12th. Racing for Bill Elliot and starting nearly last, Boris finished in a well done 14th place.
In other news…Said Nation, please accept my apology for not updating the site recently. Some life events have kept me from my duties, but I will do better in the future!
6/17/07:
It seems like it’s been forever since I’ve seen Boris run a cup race. However, the schedule confirms it to be true–Boris Said will be racing at Infineon on June 24th. Look out for Boris at this race proudly driving the No Fear Ford. Lets go #60!

Wear your Tie-die shirt and curly-haired wig proudly! You’re not alone in your quest of Boris Said promotion.
Welcome to my new website “The UnOfficial Boris Said Fan Site.” I personally believe that Boris Said is the most underrated driver in NASCAR today. Somebody give him a full ride already! He is borderline dominating at road courses, not too shabby at oval tracks, and has a personality that fans love.
Hopefully I will keep the News section up to date with each race and important announcements regarding Boris Said’s career. Any articles I write or any user submitted articles (approved) will be posted in the articles section. You will also find links to popular Boris Said information as well as non-related Said links.
4/24/07:
#60-Boris Said, who qualified sixth and placed 14th overall at the 2007 Daytona 500, will return to Nextel Cup Series action this weekend at the Aaron’s 499 at Talladega Superspeedway. Driving for the Roush-Fenway No Fear Racing, Said, from Carlsbad, California, will guide the #60 No Fear Energy Ford Fusion. “We’re real excited to be back racing again and I’m hoping we can carry the momentum we have from Daytona over to Talladega,” offered Said while packing up his driving suits and helmets this morning. “Our number one goal at Talladega this weekend is to make the race. Just making a Nextel Cup races has become so hard now, that we’ll be pleased to just make the show.” No Fear Racing tam owner Mark Simo is also excited about the team’s chances this weekend’s Aaron’s 499 at Talladega. “You enter every race hoping for the opportunity to be competitive,” reasoned Simo. “We’re hoping we can do well at Talladega. “With a limited schedule - the team will also compete at Infineon, the Pepsi 400, Watkins Glen and the Talladega October race - first we hope to start the weekend by qualifying, and then if that works out, we’ll look for a reasonable result on race day. I can’t imagine going to a race and not being competitive, but you have to realize that we’re racing against the best guys in the world here. I guess you have to curb your enthusiasm and live in reality.”(No Fear Racing PR)(4-24-2007)
2/26/07:
Site Update! I’ve updated the site with a comprehensive list of Boris Said’s race results in Nascar races. I have divided the section into pages for the various Nascar Series.
News! BorisSaid.net has been listed in Google’s search results. Unfortunately it doesn’t show up under a general search for Boris Said, but it does show up under Boris Said Fan and anything else more specific to the site’s title.

Site Update! Just one of many I hope. I added Boris Said forums and linked to them on the navigation bar. I also added a 2007 Schedule so you can keep up with the races that Boris is running. (I haven’t included the Busch series races since he hasn’t found a sponsor yet)
I’ve been trying to implement the news feed but having some problems with the server at the moment. Hopefully it will be up soon.
Oh yeah, and “Sell more cases…Run more races!!!!”
